The Chair will call the meeting to order. With great respect and humility, we acknowledge and honour the lands of the Snuneymuxw people. The Snuneymuxw people maintain their profound, unique and spiritual connection to the land through ageless traditions, teachings, stewardship and expressions of reciprocity.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 6:01 pmJoan Brown, CAO of Snuneymuxw First Nation gave a heartfelt welcome to the families of Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools as we begin the 2021/22 school year. 

There were no additions.

There were no deletions. 

There was no change in order.

Re: Amendment to the 2021/2022 Local School Calendar

    That the Board of Education of School District No. 68 (Nanaimo-Ladysmith) approve the attached revised 2021/2022 Local School Calendar.

Re: Administrative Procedure 524 - Surplus

Secretary-Treasurer Mark Walsh presented suggested changes to Administrative Procedure 524 - Operating Surplus and Deficit.  The changes in the AP have been made to ensure compliance with Board Policy 2.16 and Ministry of Education reporting requirements.  An Information Sheet and draft AP 524 are attached to the Agenda. 

Re: Financial Year End - Surplus Allocation 

Secretary-Treasurer Mark Walsh provided information on the 2020/21 Surplus and Allocation Recommendation. This matter will be brought forward to the September Business Committee meeting for further discussion.  An Information Sheet is attached to the Agenda. 

Re: School Start Up

Superintendent Scott Saywell provided a brief outline of the District's plans for school start up.  A more fulsome update will be provided at next week's Education Committee meeting.

Re: Trustee Zone Assignments 

Chair McKay shared the Trustees' Family of School Assignments for the 2021/22 School Year.
